Lurpak 200g is a block of butter, firm and pale from the fridge, softening to a smooth spreadable texture once left at room temperature for a short while. It has the rich, creamy character associated with well-known butter blocks, making it a reliable everyday kitchen staple. Use it for spreading on toast, crumpets or sandwiches, or melt it in a pan for frying eggs, bacon or vegetables. It creams well with sugar for cakes and biscuits, and stirs through mashed potato or vegetables for extra richness. A knob melted over grilled fish or steak also works well. Keep the block in the fridge and return it to its wrapper or an airtight container after use, as butter can pick up other flavours nearby. For easy spreading, cut off the amount needed and leave it at room temperature for ten to fifteen minutes rather than softening the whole block.
