Pinienhonig, or pine honey, is best known as a spoonful stirred into hot tea on a cold evening. This is a dark, richly flavoured honey with a thick, treacly texture, distinct from lighter floral varieties. In the kitchen, it works well drizzled over yoghurt, porridge or toast for a deeper, more intense sweetness than standard honey. It also suits baking, adding colour and flavour to cakes, biscuits and glazes for roasted vegetables or meats. This jar comes in a compact 40g size, useful for trying the honey before committing to a larger pot, or for keeping in a cupboard for occasional use. Store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Honey can crystallise over time; if this happens, stand the jar in warm water to return it to a pourable consistency. Always use a clean, dry spoon to help keep it in good condition for longer.
